At the time of Bill's
induction, Civic Lubbock had already voted to move the Buddy
Holly statue and the Walk Of Fame plaques to a piece of
property across the street from the Buddy Holly Center.
Civic Lubbock graciously held off moving the statue until
the induction ceremony for Bill Griggs had taken place.
Further, Deborah Justice of Civic Lubbock
had Bill Griggs' plaque mounted at the base of the Buddy
Holly statue, took photos, then ordered all the plaques
removed for their transportation of them and the statue to
their new place. This was greatly appreciated by Bill and,
as Randy Steele stated during his nomination speech, Bill
Griggs would be the last person to have a plaque mounted at
the Walk Of Fame at the Civic Center address.
